DEMENTIA PET DICTATION

HISTORY: []yo [male/female] with [].  Requesting brain PET/CT for [].

COMPARISON: CT head [], Brain MRI []

TECHNIQUE:  Pre-procedure fasting BG of [].   []mCi F18 FDG IV via [].  After uptake delay of approx []min, brain only PET/CT was performed from vertex through skull base.  Corresponding low-dose non-contrast CT scan was obtained.  [Quantitative analysis of data was performed using dedicated x software.]  The total DLP for CT scan was []mGy-cm. 

FINDINGS:  Normal and symmetric FDG uptake within [bilateral cerebral cortices, deep grey nuclei, thalamus, cerebellum and brainstem].  [Bilateral/unilateral] [symmetric/asymmetric] decreased FDG uptake within [parietal/temporal/frontal] cortices [to include posterior cingulate gyri] with sparing of sensorimotor and occipital cortices and deep grey matter. 

[No focal anatomic abnormality or atrophy on non-contrast CT].  [Age-appropriate white matter SVIC changes]. [No abnormal osseous uptake]. 


IMPRESSION:

1. [No specific PET/CT abnormality to suggest etiology of MCI/dementia]. 

2. Pattern of cortical hypometabolism is most suggestive of [Alzheimer’s disease].
